WORLDHOPPING POLL

Hey all! I come to you today bearing a poll from your friendly neighborhood mod team. It's been suggested to us more than once that we consider changing our policy on worldhopping, and possibly even remove restrictions alltogether. For those of you aren't familiar with the current policy, we require all players to run it by us if they want their characters to be able to worldhop. Characters with the canon ability to travel across dimensions/worlds are approved, and other characters must come up with a plausible way for their character to gain those powers ICly.

We recognize that for some people, this feels limiting! It requires that we have at least a few characters who are both willing and canonically able to providing worldhopping devices to people, and it requires that players go through an approval process, which sometimes can take a few days. That said, it's also been pointed out that some people like needing to plot and seek out CR if they want their characters to be able to worldhop, and there are also players who, for one reason or another, want to have their characters be stuck on their worlds. We want to do our best to make everyone happy-- hence, a poll.

How should worldhopping be handled?

Allow all in-game characters to have worldhopping powers just by virtue of being members of DDD, unless a player decides to opt their character out. Players may also choose to have their world cut off from worldhoppers, just like they can now.

Keep things largely the way things are now, but remove the need to get mod permission before having a character gain worldhopping powers.

Don't make any changes at all-- only characters who can canonically travel across dimensions should be able to worldhop, and players should have to seek mod permission to have their characters gain worldhopping powers.

This is a case where majority will rule-- whichever option gets the most votes is the option we'll go with. And just like the virus/event polls, please only vote once (voting more than once will lead to all your votes being discounted) and vote with a journal associated with the game. If you goof up and accidentally vote with a non-DDD journal, let us know in the comments!

Feel free to ask any questions if you have them. ♥

I like the IC limits existing, especially since a lot of people have a person-your-character-knows-who-allows-handwaving-their-presence-for-worldhops, but having to get mod permission is a headache for everyone.

I'm not sure how this would work out for Mir at all-but it's entirely in character that my thoughts immediately turned to weaponizing it, and how much mod permission would be needed for that. :P

Other than that, I've got literally no opinion on this matter.

While I do like the fact that there are specific world-hoppers and the mods have a good idea who they are, sometimes it is nice to just be able to hand-wave it.

At the same time, simply asking for a world-hop is a good way to get a lot of the newer characters interacting with the older (likely world-hopping capable) characters.

I kinda think it would be a good idea to let all characters worldhop. The reason I was sorta MIA was because I wasn't used to the game's setting. This way, there can be more CR and more player plots.
