Halloween Event!
~*~HALLOWEEN DUNGEON DIVE~*~

That's right, we've got a crazy Halloween event planned for you! Daring adventure awaits in a spooky setting as your characters will be dumped in a Dungeons and Dragons-esque dungeon with shockingly scary Halloween haunts! It's scary how fun it'll be from October 27th-October 31st.

That sounded like a real advertisement didn't it? Okay, moving right along, here's what's going to happen. Your characters can pick out their outfits and as soon as they've got one, they'll suddenly be transported into a dungeon as though they were the characters in a D&D game. Whatever Halloween costume they were planning for Halloween will dictate what their in-event "class" is.

CLASSES
So what does that mean? If they were going to dress up as a maid, they end up a fighting maid for the duration of the event. If they were going to go as a mummy, all the undead Egyptian powers are theirs including the ability to lose limbs and keep going. A wizard? Magic. A knight? All of the sword skills to match. James Bond? +5 Gun Skills and +10 Lady Killer moves. If your character didn't dress up because their world doesn't have Halloween or they don't give a crap, they will be assigned one of the typical D&D classes (please use 3rd edition classes) if you still want them to participate. Whatever class they are, they will honestly believe themselves to be that class. So if they're the ghost of a rockstar, they might believe they're a recently deceased rockstar and they have to go through this dungeon to get the item that'll let them move on/resurrect/whatever inspiration you need your character to have to move forward in the dungeon. Bear in mind that whatever powers your character would normally have are gone and replaced by the costume's characteristics. So if your character is canonly a sorcerer but they dressed up as Superman, they'll have Superman-like abilities (strength, speed, x-ray vision, etc.) but they won't have their regular magic.

ALIGNMENT
No, your character's alignment is not required to be what they start out as. You can sign up for a random alignment for your character if you can't decide or just pick whatever you want. If you want your happy dappy moe genki girl to be an evil mastermind who really just wants to slaughter everyone else, go ahead and switch her alignment as long as you make sure to keep other aspects of the character IC and you get permission before interacting with other players if you're going to stir up some trouble with them. The random alignment selection will be posted at the same time as the pair randomization (more info below). For more information on alignments, click here.

This part is, of course, optional. You can play your character as-is within their new class if you'd like.

PAIRS/GROUPS
Characters from there can charge into the dungeon in pairs. There will be the option for randomized pairs and if you want to form groups, just have the pairs come together! The randomized sign-ups will go up today. The randomized pairs will be posted on October 25th as well as an "emergency I forgot to sign up before but I need a partner still" post that will have its results announced on the day of the event. You are not required to have randomized pairs, but it is definitely a good option to increase CR and play with other people!

If you would like to be in a larger group, feel free to combine pairs into groups (ICly you could just say they got dumped in the same starting spot) or form your own groups OOCly.

Each pair will be given an objective. Save the damsel/dude in distress, obtain the Dark Crystal, kill 500 enemies within the caves to make it safe, kill the Necromancer who's been terrorizing the nearby village. Some pairs will receive the same objective but there's only one prize for it, so you may be in competition with another pair or maybe you want to work together and split the loot! That's all up to you as players. Maybe your character goes rogue and tries to just go around killing the other teams instead of completing their goal. You know, whatever you want.

MAIN COMM USE DURING THE EVENT & ITEM TRADING
The community will still be on so they can post things like "Hey, I just found this neat Zombie-Killer Battle Axe does anyone want to trade for a Black Crystal?" or whatever else they want. It'll be used primarily as a communication channel between separate groups within the dungeon and trades will be capable of being made with a fancy "Trade Item" button that'll appear on screen for trades even over distances! There will be a log for action threads in the event comm, so make sure to keep action in the logs unless your characters are talking over the comm then run into each other and you go into action spam.

THE DUNGEON
The dungeon will have multiple levels, but for the most part it's up to you as a player, but it definitely looks haunted, old, and scary. Almost like an underground haunted house with torches on the walls. You can make basically anything appear to confront your character with as long as it follows a couple of guidelines:

1. It must not be a canon character, monster, etc. from any series or real life people. You can't fight Jabba the Hutt, you can't fight Dracula (though you can fight vampires), you can't fight Napoleon or Justin Bieber.

2. All enemies that your character finds should be Halloween-themed! Mummies, walking skeletons, zombies, ghosts, slime monsters that look like they crawled out of a haunted lagoon, giant tarantulas, demons-- all of the typical Halloween stuff.

3. Yes your characters can get loot! Crystals, money, new equipment, healing items! All sorts of things to help you on your quest! All items will have some sort of Halloween-y hint to them, even if it's just cheesy bat stickers on your sword handle. Let's have a brief overview of the types of items:
Crystals: Crystals are items that contain single-use magic spells. They come in different colors dependent on the type of magic they contain. Once used, they turn transparent.
Orange: Offense magic (elemental attacks like fire magic, lightning, water, ice, etc.) Throw at enemy to use.
Yellow: Contain passive time-based defense magic (def-up which decreases damage taken from enemies, reflect which reflects magic spells back to the caster, time magic which can be used to speed up yourself). Effects last for 5 minutes, throw on ground in front of user for self-use.
Black: Curses. If you throw this at someone, it's likely to give them a curse for 5 minutes. Blindness, the inability to talk (no casting magic), paralysis-- any sort of status ailment can be inflicted with this type of crystal.
Spooky Green: The color on this one looks somewhat iridescent and a little creepy, like it contains a ghost. In fact, they do. These ones can summon a poltergeist to distract or attack the enemy for one minute. Be careful not to release near yourself, as the poltergeist attacks whoever it is nearest.
Money: Your character can gain gold coins over the course of this. Since trade and finding loot are the only way to get items, this will actually translate over to help your character once the event is over. Though not much-- each gold coin will end up being the equivalent of about $0.25 (USD), so no one's going to exactly get rich off of this event, though they definitely might think they will. If your character is seriously hoarding money, the community will cut it off at 1,000 gold coins being transferred over ($250 USD).. Finding money on the ground or from enemies will only be about 5 gold coins max found on the ground or 20 max from defeating enemies.

Equipment: Your characters will be able to find new equipment items in treasure chests. The harder the chest is to get to, the higher level it will be. If you get a drop from a monster, it's going to be a higher level than one you found if it's a boss/high-level monster. Your character won't be able to get equipment from every single battle they engage in, so please keep it reasonable. There will be specific bosses you can get the highest level equipment from that will be listed on the log. Sometimes the equipment dropped/found will be for the correct class, sometimes it won't. If your character is a gunman, they're not going to get a new rifle every single time. Maybe 1/10 drops will be something for them. Armor can be found at a higher rate of course, and will only be in light-weight or heavy-weight. Light weight increases magic, speed, and defense for long-range. Heavy weight is high physical, close-range defense increases but will not increase speed at all. Unless your character is in a costume with armor in the design, when they put armor on it won't be visible. Weapons, however, will be. You can be creative with what weapons your characters get based on their class. Golfers might get golf clubs as their weapons-- spiked 9 iron or a gold sand wedge or something like that-- whereas a cheerleader might get shoes with high-kick abilities to increase their kicks' powers, etc.

Healing Items: These will just come in the form of potions. Drink them and suddenly injuries will heal. The more solid the color is the more potent the healing is. So if you've got one that's mostly translucent, it's a low-level healing item whereas a completely saturated purple could pull your character back from the brink of death.

Please note that while characters can die in-game, they will be resurrected at the end of the event. Non-fatal injuries will be sustained after the event, but no characters will know that any healing will occur at the end of the event. So if your character's best friend gets eaten by a rabid mange-infected werewolf, they'll have to deal with the emotional trauma until the end of the event.

Other: If you feel a different type of item would greatly benefit your character, you may request it here at any time prior to or during the event and a moderator will approve/deny the request ASAP.
4. Boss Monsters will appear during the course of the event. Specifics will be listed a week before the event! There will be 10 total and they can only be defeated by one pair/group each, so you will need to sign up to fight a boss monster. The "Winners" will be chosen through RNG out of the sign up lists. Any items dropped by boss monsters may be kept beyond the event, though they may have their power lessened or lost, dependent on the item itself. These are the only enemies that will have mod-specified drops. They might just end up making really cool looking decorations once the event is over.

QUESTIONS
If you have any questions at all, please feel free to ask a moderator here. We would prefer it if you would ask in this section instead of on plurk/AIM so that if others have the same question, they can see it and can find the answer here! Thank you!
