NEW + OPEN DISCUSSION
Hey everyone! First of all, I've got some great news! We finally have a PREMISE PAGE! This will help all members, new and current, to describe what the game is about. Enabling will be easier and figuring out just what we do here will as well. (I know that was something a lot of people asked when first thinking about joining the game-- I get asked it all the time, so hopefully this will help everyone out!)
SECONDLY and very important, the moderators would like to launch an open discussion about methods to help make the game more accessible, bring in new players, and improve the game overall. Anon comments will be enabled so long as there is no harassment of other players. Please use this post to give suggestions, things you would like to see in the game, current problems with the game itself that you would like to bring up, or anything else you can think of related to these purposes. Bear in mind that this is for constructive purposes! If you have a comment, make sure to provide a possible solution or improvement that you would like to see.

I'm not sure if our paths ever crossed but I've been here for a bit too and I agree with a lot of things you're saying, almost all, but I do think the canon updates are a bit more of a problem than it seems. No, it's not the only problem and DDD won't go back to the old days if it's fixed but I do think it's a nice start. It's not fair to blame any one person, or even one cast, as we all occasionally do a direct from canon update. It's when the majority of the posts are those that it begins to become a bit harder to comment with. It's something I plan to be careful with myself, anyway.
But having those comments affect the comm? It's beginning to happen a bit more! There was a while that it rarely happened but then we had a Buffy "Once More With Feeling" plot, Greed made community cards, and the Precure cast did an event. So, I 100% agree this needs to happen more and really want to encourage people to keep doing it. You're right that if everybody lives in a vacuum, it doesn't work. Again, this is another thing I plan on working on.
We do still have events occasionally replace viruses, such as the Zombie Land event, the College AU, and the Waterpark. I've never thought of the idea of randomization, though. How did it work out when it was tested? It actually sounds interesting.
I think it comes down to the fact that it's in our hands. DDD works best when players reach out to each other, when they engage other players. Already today I've seen mods during their part so we need to, too.
And sorry to sound like the ending of a Disney movie.
