June Viruses

With the last virus coming up a tie, for June we'll be going with Grab Bag!

For those not in the know, it means you can have your character experience up to three viruses that they've missed in the past! Only one may be a virus they have experienced before. Also, only one at a time! Otherwise, you're free to make them last as long or as short as you'd like. The list of past viruses can be found below under the cut, and will run from June 15th (Monday) to June 25th (Thursday)!

April Virus Poll 2015.

The winning virus for March was Sliders! Starting this Friday (3/27) and running until April Fool's Day (4/1/15) your characters may end up slipping in between each other's worlds unexpectedly. Whether you wake up in someone else's bed or go for a morning jog and find yourself on an unfamiliar roadway, world-hops won't work to just send you on back home, so you'd better make the most of it.

On April Fool's Day itself, a post not in fact made by your character might end up being made. Is it an incredibly convincing video of them declaring love for somebody? Is it an offer to give away all their possessions? Is it an "accidental" video of them smack talking their community friends? Is it a spam message of them talking about how they make thousands of dollars a month working from home? Good luck convincing everyone else it's not real. Again, that's APRIL 1ST. Yes, it will overlap with the Slider's Virus if you want!

For the next April virus, it's another month of short ones. Take your pick! Winner will be run in April for 2-3 days.

Pixel Hunting: Hammer Space made inconvenient: rather than pulling something out of nowhere, things are hiding in absurdly precise, small locations.
Tutorial: It's like someone apped Clippy, the Word paperclip mascot to DDD...
Mod Pick: The Events Mod (or someone else) will make up a virus on the fly. May be long or short and will not necessarily correspond to the established length for the polling period.

February Viruses

The winners for the February Virus are:

Merchandising Craze: The fourth wall has been breached, if only by toy companies. From Feb. 13-15
Honey, I Shrunk the Community: Who are you calling so small they could fit in the crevice of a shoe sole's design?! From Feb. 23-25

The winning option for the format of short viruses was to have them spread out for different periods throughout the month, so our dates are:

Merchandising Craze - February 13-15 - Just in time for your Narcissistic Valentines Day gift giving needs!
Honey, I Shrunk the Community - February 23 - 25 - Now those action figures you bought are life size to you!

For the shrunken virus, feel free to assume your character's device has shrunk to size for their tiny needs, or you're welcome to have them struggling with the keyboard to make a post and send out an SOS.

Viruses - December-January 2014-2015

Sorry for the very long delays; long story made short, medical issues required putting in extra hours at work and on the side I found out I have hilarious allergic reactions to some medications (I'm not being sardonic this holiday season; in retrospect, it was hilarious). With that out of the way, for the New Year we have the Grab Bag Virus!

Virus Schedule Poll

Hey, guys! As we all know, DramaDramaDuck has shrunk quite a bit over the years. We've stated recently that the mod team, at least, is fine with a small game, so there are no intents to close. But management for small groups is a little different than it is for large groups.

We've had player suggestions about reducing the frequency of viruses. While people vote on them, activity during them varies. The last virus (What was Missing) had no participants. This may be because it requires planning and groups, when our numbers are rather small. This also makes it difficult to plan events that are any more complex than providing a location or that depend on higher levels of interactivity between players. On the other hand, general viruses seem to be when there's the most activity, and events that require interactivity foster... well, interactivity!

With general activity levels much slower and the number of players lessened, it's possible that some changes are in order, and we'd like your feedback! We don't want to lessen opportunities for interaction and play but nor do we want to put out an abundance of them for them to become ignored.

June Viruses

Since the filter Greed-mun uses to get onto the site is currently not working, June viruses are being posted later than usual. We're sorry for the delay so let's get started we can all have fun with these!

Saturday will start the You are my Master virus. As this is the 3-4 day virus, it will run until Tuesday, June 24th. Did you wake up this morning as a maid, butler, or master? Whichever it was, you've always been this way! Thanks to this AU virus, your memories will be changed into believing this has been you always been your life.

There won't be too much time to rest before our second virus this month; The Eyebeams Have It will run from this weekend, June 28-29. The eyes may have once been the window to the soul but now they're dangerous, murderous weapons! Can you control them? If not, what poor innocent victim will suffer?

Feel free to use this post for plotting and/or questions. Hopefully next month, we'll be back to our regular schedule programming.

May Events and Viruses - 2014

Today starts the Cheap Special Effects virus; someone's playing a slide whistle every time you make an up or down motion, someone's clapping coconuts when you walk, rain is made by a sprinkler, if your character's involved in a bloodier life style, blood may be ketchup on a crime scene, etc.

Next month, Aqua's player will be hosting an event which they'll explain at their convenience, and we'll be having the Grabbag Virus for a week!

For the uninitiated, the Grab Bag virus means you can pick from any of the past viruses we've had and expose your characters to them! Like most viruses, you can choose which days you want them active on. You can only do one virus at a time. You can use three viruses total, but only ONE can be a virus your character's experienced before. The list of viruses is posted below with descriptions in a table.

Grab Bag will be from Monday May 19th to Monday May 26th! One full week!

Virus - April 2014

A reminder that My Two Sides starts today and runs until Wednesday; visible/audible embodiments of your characters good and bad consciences like a classic 90s cartoon!

In other announcements, Cheap Special Effects has won the tie breaker for the 1-2 day virus, which will run on Saturday April 26th and Sunday the 27th.

Viruses - April 2014

The winner of the 2-3 day virus is My Two Sides! From April 13th-15th (Next Sunday through the following Wednesday), those infamous shoulder angel and devils telling you right from wrong will be visible to you and everyone on the community!

For the 1-2 day virus, we have a tie between What was Missing (Confess your bottled up feelings--possible through song--or never get your things back!) and Cheap Special Effects (like being in an 8th grader's home movie soap opera, for all the corny mood effects).

March 2014 - Virus - Tabular Rasa - March 20-22

And the March Virus winner is.... Tabular Rasa!

Characters will have their personalities, and perhaps traces of their interpersonal feelings for each other, but the specific, tangible memories of others and even themselves are lost! "They don't even know their name, or their race, or where they are. They will have to piece together an idea using their surroundings and the community!" Even the community itself might seem new to them!

This will be a three day virus taking place from Thursday, March 20th to Saturday March 22nd! You're free to have your characters influenced one day, two days, all three days, or be spectators who have no viral days!

Hey everyone! The Regular virus starts today. This means all of your regular, mundane events happen like normal... except then they suddenly escalate into something completely and outrageously ridiculous! Have fun!

December Duckorama!

THIS MONTH IN DDD! We've got a virus, we've got a Secret Santa event! All levels of fun are to be had here! First we have the Regular virus from December 8-10th! The regular virus will have your characters starting off with every day situations that eventually ends up completely ridiculous. Lost your pencil? You have to fight the mighty pencil muncher to get it back! Bad hair day? Your hair might start talking to you because it's been possessed by a demon! It's the very definition of this. I will put a reminder post up on the day that the virus starts.

On the same day there will be a Secret Santa Sign-Ups post! How is the Secret Santa going to work? Sign your character up OOCly any time between now and until December 18th. On the 19th, I will put up an OOC randomized list of who gets who. ICly, this will seem like your character gets a private message with the name and a short letter that says "Get this person a gift. You're their Secret Santa! Naughty children who don't give presents don't get to play."

Your character will have to get their Secret Santa a gift or when they are teleported to the Christmas party on December 25th (log up on December 24th), they won't be able to talk. That's right, their punishment is absolute silence and any gifts they receive will instantly turn to coal until they give their Secret Santa a present! It doesn't have to be a fantastic present, but it's got to be something. If you didn't sign your character up for the Secret Santa OOCly, they will not suffer the effects if they did not get a gift.
