The simple answer is that he couldn't. Unless Greed told him. Which definitely ain't happening.
Well... the abandonment issues DO apply, somewhat. It just applies to the Homunculi as a family, in general. Manga-Envy DOES show attachment to the other Homunculi, and their Father. Hohenheim actually points out the fact that the Father created the Homunculi because he was jealous of humans and their ability to create families and communities. And since Envy is the Father's jealousy... you can see where I'm going with this.
Yup. And I'm pretty sure Envy doesn't know what Greed's chimera crew looks like, since King Bradly was the one who went in and exterminated them all, so he couldn't go after them, even if he wanted to.
Of course, it would be exceedingly easy for Envy to impersonate Greed in order to screw around with his friends. Since he knows quite a bit about Greed's personality, he's less likely to slip up with his disguise.
