Hey everyone! My name's Mirth, and I'll be playing this gender-swapping jerk from Fushigi Yuugi: Genbu Kaiden. He is going to jump right on the chance to cross-examine anyone Takiko's been talking to ever, so, uh, I apologize for that in advance. He also has zero social skills. I apologize for that also.

I was at DDD way back in the day as FF7 Zack and a few others, so it's nice to see a bunch of familiar faces are still around. I can be caught most often on AIM in the evenings and on weekends, or via Gchat (mirthalia.alia) during weekdays, and I can backdate into the endless beyond (my current record is 2 years) so don't worry about late tagging me. I look forward to playing with everyone!

The thing I love about those old commercials is the way they try to sell Kirby to the children of the eighties. He looks more like something you'd find in Strawberry Shortcake and Rainbow Brite, so in order to sell him they make him look as tough and as cool as possible.

They try to make Kirby look Hardcore to Americans!

We know better today, though, don't we?

The community members are in danger! This monster only gets more powerful and dangerous as time passes and it continues to feed, and it has deceived everyone into thinking otherwise!

Believe it or not, there are fan theories that state that. My headcanon casts Kirby and the nature of his powers in a much more charitable and lighthearted... um, light.

I can only imagine the community's reaction when Kirby finally manages to use a Super Ability, never mind a power combo Combination Ability, or logically extrapolating from that, a Super Combination.

Good thing he isn't evil! Those opponents are arguably not innocent when touching them hurts you and your allies.

...Man, I don't know if Rimudo would take that in stride or not. The Warriors have some pretty weird powers themselves. (Inami fights with a giant pipe for crying out loud.)

Considering that there is no reason why there couldn't be more Super Abilities, or why they couldn't be combined? I'd say it's only a matter of time before Rimudo fails his Will save.

Welcome (back) to the game! It'll be nice to see the FY cast expand; for such a popular series, I don't see a lot of people playing from (any version of) it!

IIRC, the Suzaku/Seiryuu FY arcs hit their English fan peak back in the early 2000s, so maybe not that strange. Genbu Kaiden has, sadly, a much smaller following, which is weird because it's a million times better. I am biased

I got hit up with requests to translate this or that scene on the DS game within the last two or three years, there's still a spattering of old school fans about! ...The fact that I was only asked about scenes on the Suzaku side does unfortunately go hand in hand with that "smaller following" thing. Best reason I can come up with is no anime = no love.

Greed's talked with Takiko a bit; through some fluke he's made no particular passes at her but he's kind of a creep and a pervert in general, so somehow I get the idea these two's personalities will clash. Either way, looking forward to it!

Does the DS have a Genbu path? I think there was a Genbu-only PS game a while back but it was absolutely terrible.

Yesss, I was stalking those avidly. Rimudo's bossy and aggressive, so this first meeting is bound to be entertaining. Not to mention Rimudo's going to be in his girl form

The DS version is just the two PS-2 FY games on one cart as far as I know. Admittedly I didn't do the Genbu one as in depth, as much because nobody else had any interest in it as for the fact that it was... well, yeah, a little terrible. The Suzaku side was a pretty stock otome game, but the Suzaku story is finished so you could go through that one in its entirety and there's enough wiggle room for the endings/story to change (your choice character becomes the Tamahome 'take them home to reality at the end' love interest, you can prevent every single death including Amiboshi's, you can focus on the Yui, etc.). On the Genbu version, your character's an OC crammed into the early-middle part of Takiko's adventure like a date-sim themed filler episode, then the OC goes home without having made any difference in Takiko and co.'s story at all.


Yay gender twisters; some of his best CR's been with gender-benders of some sort (Naoto from P4 was one of his most frequent foils/victims when we had her). Let the chauvinism of 1920s gangster stereotypes commence.
