triple_d_ooc | (no subject)

So… I’ve brought this up to a couple people and I figured I would mention it here in the event that there are loose ends your characters need to tie up with Phoenix and/or Larry. I’m holding out for the mental regression virus because I’ve been looking forward to it since it was first mentioned, but shortly after it’s over, I’m planning to drop. I’ve found myself unable to keep up for the last couple months, I’ve been dropping threads like they were on fire, and I’ve been losing the characters’ voices for some time now; throwing them back in the game hasn’t seemed to help.

I was debating making this post because the decision isn’t really set in stone, but I know Phoenix in particular has gotten involved in a few small plots lately and I didn’t want to drop without warning. Granted, come September, I might find myself with a surge of time and inspiration and I may look back on this with a sheepish “lol, just kidding.” But as of right now, I don’t see that happening. This has honestly been coming for a long time, as anyone who talks to me on a personal level can tell you.

This is seriously the most fun I’ve had in the 13 years that roleplaying has been a hobby of mine. In the off chance that I do find myself with more time and inspiration, I’ll be thrilled because you guys are so awesome. Don’t ever change. ♥

So, loose ends that need tying up? Let me know here, please!

[Edit] Er, I just wanted to reiterate that this decision isn't set in stone, so this is by no means a goodbye post! As I said to Frost-mun in a comment: "I'm still not 100% sure what's going to happen and (even at the risk of sounding like a pretentious idiot later), I didn't think it would be fair to drop with no warning."

...though, now that I think about it, I should have just gone directly to the people who are involved with the plots Phoenix is a part of right now. S-sorry. Poor judgment call. -_-

I (both Ty Lee and Mai are played by me, I couldn't wait for a Mai to be applied for so I just apped her in the end) treated Azula as if she was the same person but had forgotten. Ty Lee (the character) was confused under the circumstances but didn't question it, it's not in her nature to question what Azula says so she just went with it. And Mai was too shocked at being ordered to return to say anything and played dumb.

It depends, with my situation the three were apart for some time due to plot so something happening to one that made them forget the comm wasn't farfetched. If another Phoenix is applied for, maybe it could be one from another dimension of some kind or a virus hit him that made him forget the community (but not his interactions with the people that he'd interact with normally, I've never played the games but, y'know).

Yeah, them being apart for so long must have made it a little easier, at least. If it was just Phoenix and Edgeworth in the PW cast it would be a lot easier to work with any new Phoenix on how to account for it, but our cast is a pretty good size and several of them are characters that would be seeing Phoenix on an almost daily or weekly basis, so having THEIR Phoenix just randomly forget everything about the comm would be difficult at best. Plus I'm just selfish and want Edgeworth to have his Phoenix. XD

Considering the number of people his reappearance would affect and the fact we've already got another PW dimension due to Apollo Justice (the sequel from seven years later) canon, I guess another dimension wouldn't be too hard to account for, but the new Phoenix-mun would need to agree to it. Personally I don't think I'd be able to take a mind-wipe virus though, because their Phoenix wouldn't be Idgie's Phoenix. Even though that would probably be the easiest way to handle it (aside from the possibility of them not wanting to keep things like the Phoenix and Edgeworth relationship, which is happening largely off-comm).

Fuck, I'm sorry, I'm rambling and probably sound like a selfish bitch about this whole thing. ^_^;;;

No, no. I understand perfectly. If this Azula went away, my Ty Lee would be seriously screwed. More so if they decided to take her past a certain point in canon which the DDD versions won't/can't go through due to the build up being wrong. Or the same if I dropped Ty Lee. It hasn't happened nor is it likely at this moment in time yet but it possibly could. Mai, aside from some built up agression, is basically the same character with the same canon boyfriend so someone could pull her off easily enough.

They got used to it eventually, but it was a bit slow going. (As the first Azula would have asked for Ty Lee to return but not Mai. The new Azula asked for both, which Ty Lee brought up but didn't question it when Azula said "Mai? Why shouldn't I?". Part of that was due to Ty Lee's temprament of the loyal subserviant friend to Azula, though.)

As it is, if the new Phoenix-mun agreed, another dimension would be the best bet.

And personally, I don't think it's being too selfish. Just...thinking ahead. Because if you enjoy playing here and if you can figure out a way to play without Idgie's Phoenix, then you shouldn't have to leave. Obviously you can still say something about Edgeworth's relationship with Phoenix still going on, just from Edgeworth's POV. I'm guessing it would be in private entries, but still. It could work.

....and now I'm rambling.

Another dimension would be the thing I'd hope for, yeah, and I could keep Edgeworth with his Phoenix off the comm. It wouldn't even have to come up much, but without knowing that he has Phoenix to help him with his many, many issues, Edgeworth's road to being mostly-adjusted would be a ridiculously long one, and he might never be fixed. :/ And I just...don't think I could make him have that same development with another Phoenix. It wouldn't be fair to the new Phoenix to try to make them fill Idgie's shoes, and I don't want to give up Idgie's Phoenix like that, it would be so final. I'd rather just start the relationship over from scratch and let it be what it will be while still keeping the one he has with his Feenie.

But this is a community, and if my wishes have to be given up for everyone else's benefit that's what will be done. I mean, we're just two players out of the whole PW cast and the whole comm, it would be selfish to try to make other people adjust solely for us. XD I just don't know if I'll be able to stay without Idgie's Phoenix and I've been praying for months that I don't have to make that choice. Talking it out here has helped me feel a little better, though, thanks for that. ♥
