Poll tiem!

Alright, guys! The mod team has been failing at handling player complaints, and for this we deeply apologize. We know that you guys are not satisfied with this, and neither are we. We've been working on the best way to handle complaints, and it has just taken entirely too long, and for that we are sorry.

We're toying with the idea of mandatory concrit posts on all journals as a tool to help us handle characterization issues. We're hesitant, but it may be beneficial on the whole and it gives you, the players, a way to contact that person directly about whatever issues you may have.

But we want to know what you guys think:

[Poll #1243614]

Comments are, naturally, screened, so please be honest and let us know how you feel on this issue! Thank you for your participation!

To clarify, you're not talking about making HMD mandatory, yes? Implied pretty obviously, I know, but just double-checking.

derp, I know the community wanted some personal mod input on stuff cause you expressed you don't hear enough from us so has a Norrypinion!

I am SEVERELY against mandatory crit posts for only those marked as OOC. I was a little horrified to hear it offered, to be honest, but it was an option that deserved to be listed, etc etc. I think it's a terrible idea and singles people out.

Crit posts? I'm sort of indifferent to them personally. I think everyone tends to do them and they get buried under all your other posts and everyone forgets you even have one etc etc. I personally wouldn't mind seeing mandatory crit posts as a moderator because it's sort of like a middle man-- It helps the players talk to each other without having to go through us first. I know you guys are sort of scared of talking to each other about characterizaton but you'd be surprised how many are WANTING to receive crit! Honestly, I wont be bothered either way cause I know no one will use them anyway BUT.

(And to clarify, some seem to think the mod team thought concrit posts would be a 'quick fix' but we ... are quite aware it's not! It'd just be like a 'band-aid' as someone put it, something to help us more than anything.)

I'm actually pretty cool with concrit posts being optional! What I DO think should be mandatory is a CONTACT post. Just a post where players can tag you and say hey! get on aim, I need to talk to you! or something like that. Not everyone is on aim at the same time or has an e-mail that they check regularly but a contact post would let people get in touch with you when you're not available!

and and... uh. feel free to ask my opinions, I feel weird babbling. XD; I'll leave this unscreened and you can contact me if you like, about it, I'm happy to talk!

about the crit posts being pushed down by other entries - you can just set the crit entry's date to 2099 or whatever so it always stays on top in the journal.

[identity profile] carnality.livejournal.com 2008-08-18 05:52 am (UTC)(link)
I'm just pretty assured that people wont use them. :B I'm happy to just focus on HMD.

Also, I typed focus as fuck at first, what's wrong with me? XD

Contact post? Great idea. I've seen it in use on the small scale and it's worked awesomely. Probably wouldn't be as effective on a comm scale just because you have the same problem with the post getting lost as we have now with personal-journal crit posts, but...

Maybe require it to be linked in the journal's profile? Details, hahaha.

Anyway, good idea. Seconding this, for what it's worth.

We could always link them up on the TC! that way when you see them and you cant catch them on aim, just click the link and bam, there you go, leave a comment and you're all good. XD;

Isn't that what the player directory is for, though?

[identity profile] carnality.livejournal.com 2008-08-18 06:51 am (UTC)(link)
Sort of; this is more of a if they cant get in contact with you through aim or e-mail or other things, they can leave you a comment asking you to get in touch with them or to have a conversation there, instead!

Basically, it's an alternative to instant messengerrr.

Ohhh! I get it now. A post like that could also be linked from the PD.

[identity profile] carnality.livejournal.com 2008-08-18 06:54 am (UTC)(link)
Yep! :0 could do that! also, we may want to ask people to update their information soooon, it's been a while XD

I was actually just thinking of that tonight. I was going to ask one of you guys if it'd be okay for me to make a post about it once the dramu died down. ^^;

Whoo! I shall do so tomorrow, then.

Oh, I had another question, since we're on the topic here... I know the PD is alphabetized by RL journal name, but I don't think a lot of other players know that. Would it be okay to re-alphabetize them to go by the players' nicknames? That's what a lot of us know each other by and it's what appears first on the PD, anyway.

...s-so, is it okay to do this or...? XD;;

Yeah, that'd be fine :3

[identity profile] shunraiken.livejournal.com 2008-08-18 06:20 am (UTC)(link)
If you future-date the post it won't get lost. That's what I did with the crit post in Yuan's journal so it's always at the top.

[identity profile] carnality.livejournal.com 2008-08-18 06:49 am (UTC)(link)
Like i expressed before, even if you future date it, I dont think people will honestly utilize them XD;

[identity profile] shunraiken.livejournal.com 2008-08-18 07:32 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I'm with you on that. XD;

[identity profile] sine-sole-sileo.livejournal.com 2008-08-18 07:03 am (UTC)(link)
Ffff, like hell I'm going to future-date everything. XD I don't want to have to scroll past it every time I look at whoever's journal.

[identity profile] dragon-scholar.livejournal.com 2008-08-18 03:18 pm (UTC)(link)
A contact post and a crit post future dated on a journal could be combined, maybe? So it's just one thing future dated. And if crit posts aren't made mandatory, then the player could always just leave off the crit portion.
