I dunno how the Mega Man fandom works, but it could possibly be like the Final Fantasy/Tales of/Shining Force series where each game is basically a completely separate canon and the only thing they have in common is the name?

Like, you could play characters from Final Fantasy 7, Final Fantasy 9 and Final Fantasy 12, but because they're all different games set in different universes it wouldn't be the same as playing a ton of Bleach characters or something.
