OH BALLS.
Er, have an official modly PSA!
There's been a slight policy change, re: applications. If you've been following the news community, you've seen that Me and Shiro are now in charge of applications. Please feel free to contact us about anything in that respect. :D
Secondly, with much of your comments in mind, we have decided to avoid doing a mandatory crit post. Despite the overwhelming amount of yeses, we took what you had to say into account and decided against it. However, we STRONGLY encourage you to do so and we also recommend leaving a CONTACT POST for people who cannot get on AIM to talk to you, to be able to contact you.
Finally, after much consideration as well, we have decided to instate a fandom limit, as in, a limit of how many characters you can have in one fandom. That number is now THREE and it will not be changing. Should you have more than that already, you are not expected to drop anyone-- Also, this affects applications that are put in from now (August 22nd) onward. Any before that may have put you over your limit are fine, consider yourselves lucky.
Andddd I believe that's it. \:D/ sorry for posting so much, guys. Haha.

... jk.
I like the idea of a character limit. Despite the fact that I have over three canons, I might just end up dropping some anyhow. It's makes better for focusing on characterization. Anywho. Thanks for the update!

I made a suggestion for that a couple weeks ago, I think. ...Can't remember where though. *3*

I think you made a post to the OOC comm asking for input on a hypothetical character limit. I said that I disagreed with the idea, but would be all for a fandom limit.

I'm glad they put it into effect! (affect?) *3*

Affect = verb, effect = noun. (There is an affect that's a noun, but it means demeanor.) So, it'd be "put into effect", yes. A+

Ahhh, thank you. I'm glad I got that right. XD

I am a little curious about how this applies to some of the more complex fandoms. Giro-mun, for instance, has four Mega Man characters, but they're scattered across the classic, ZX, and Battle Network/NT Warrior series (the latter being completely unconnected to the other two). So either she's one over the limit and grandfathered in, or she can pick up one more ZX character, two more BN characters, and two more classic characters. Or maybe she can pick up two more BN or Star Force characters and she's at the limit for the classic/X/Zero/ZX/maybe-Legends verse.

Like, you could play characters from Final Fantasy 7, Final Fantasy 9 and Final Fantasy 12, but because they're all different games set in different universes it wouldn't be the same as playing a ton of Bleach characters or something.

Basically, you have the original continuity, which is the classic series (Bass's canon), X series (X and Zero's canon), Zero series (X and Zero will end up here someday if DDD goes on for hundreds of years), and ZX series (Giro and Grey's canon). They're separated by pretty wide gaps (they're all in different centuries), and there are storyline connections of roughly increasing strength--the X series has only a vague relation to the classic series, while the ZX games' plots are basically one big reference to the Zero series. There's also Mega Man Legends, which is purportedly in the waaaay distant future of this timeline and basically has no connection to it whatsoever. All of these (I think) have manga associated with them, none of which have come into play here at DDD besides being mined for icons. There was also an American-made cartoon based loosely on the classic series, which is Protoman's canon (there was a Protoman in the actual classic series, but about the only thing they have in common is their appearance and being Mega Man's "brother").
Then there's the MegaMan Battle Network series, which, again, has the Mega Man Star Force series in its distant future. This universe has no connection to the first one, though a huge number of characters are based on classic-series or sometimes X-series characters. MMBN has a manga and anime associated with it, which are known as "MegaMan NT Warrior" in English. This is Lan and MegaMan.exe's canon.
Confused yet?
