Sup. More planning ahead!
Hello all! Now that I’m back from the land of Frenchness, time for me to spam you with more series 4 event planning, and this time, a sign-up post for reals.
(I say sign-up post, but the first part of this event only really affects people who know Ten or the Master, so anyone who chats with them on a regular basis needs to read this, urgently! XD)
Remember this post? The one about the DW plot event that I’m hoping to set in motion in November. If you haven’t seen it yet, please read it before reading anything else in this post, because otherwise it will make no sense at all! ^_^
I’ve got more info/ideas on exactly how the Turn Left Event (Part One) will work.
- Obviously, because of the way Donna changes history, all of history is changed so that Ten and the Master wink out of existence. As Ten “died” in this new history before he ever joined DDD, this has some serious implications. Namely: all your characters forget about Ten and the Master. They never met. In addition, events which they had a hand in either never happened or happened differently. We already know this.
- But don’t worry! The multiverse will try to bend itself to compensate. To get a better idea of how this might work, I’ll give you an example in DDD canon.
EVENT: Jacky Faber only joined the community because Ten landed on her ship and gave her a laptop. This event now never happened as Ten wasn’t around to do it.
CHANGES: Anyone who knows Jacky now doesn’t. How will this affect them and their timeline is something you guys will have to work out for themselves – EG, what happens to Kratos and Yuan now that they haven’t known Jacky for so long? How did anything that happened to them change?
HOW THE MULTIVERSE MIGHT COMPENSATE: Jacky discovers a mysterious box on her ship which links up to the community. She then post as if she is joining for the first time. People who knew her before history was changed might say she looks familiar.
- Of course, the above is just an example or an idea, so you guys get an idea of how this part of the event will work. It’s up to the muns what they actually do with this situation! ^__^
- Another important thing to mention about this event is characters who may be exempt from the amnesia that the change in history has caused. Anyone who is outside time would fall into this category, and would be able to see that something was terribly wrong. I’m thinking that Gods, Death, Yuuko, and anyone else of that nature would be part of this group.
The second thing I want to try and figure out is how long the Turn Left and Journey’s End parts of the plot would last. I was going to have the Turn Left plot last a week so people could have fun with that, and then start the Journey’s End part when it finished, but then I realised a lot of people might get tired of a plot that went on too long.
So I was thinking to overlap the plots slightly, so that part of the Journey’s End plot (namely the stars going out and worlds disappearing) was going on while the Turn Left effects were still in place. That would work out at a 10-day event at the most, with 7 days of forgetting the Doctor and 3 days devoted solely to the events of The Stolen Earth/Journey’s End. Those 3 days would involve an RL or several RLs) aboard the Dalek Crucible for anyone close enough to Ten who wants to help. If you want to be part of that group, please say in your comment to this post, and then I can give more details nearer the event!
So – time-wise, does that sound good for everyone? Or would you prefer the event to be longer or shorter? I have a tentative timeline for the entire series up in Ten’s lj to give a little perspective.
If there’s no problems, then with the grace of the mods the event should be happening between the 10th and the 19th of November – roughly! This is still very much changeable if there’s any problems at all!
Again I must say: Co-operation between canon-mates and indeed, everyone, is a must in this event. We’re essentially re-writing DDD history for a week, so it really won’t work unless we’re all on the same page.

You know, I was just chatting with a friend and she said maybe one or two worlds involved with DDD should be "stolen," too? Worlds were being stolen across time and space and I don't think all 27 were named in the show. What do you think about that?

... Actually, if we got permission for the mods to NPC daleks and Davros, we could use it for their actions in the RLs. Could be useful. We already have a henchmen journal for use in events but Davros isn't a henchman, ha ha.

As far as the RL goes, both Protoman and Karen would want to help, but both of them are also rather questionable as to whether Ten would actually bring them along. I have other plans for Eve during the event, though.

As for the RL, Ten isn't actually going to be bringing everyone along! My idea was that he would leave a community post before the huge fight explaining the situation and telling everyone not to follow him. But there would be the co-ordinates of the place accidentally hidden in the message for people (eg, Tieria or anyone with hacking skills) to find and follow. My idea was that everyone would get a hop from a world-hopper and things would go from there, with Ten being rather annoyed at everyone putting themselves in danger, ha ha!
