IMPORTANT! : the return of the mod posts
The results are in, and we are making the following changes! Please read this, because this affects you (yes you!) and we want to know if there's any confusion!

First, Activity check will now require a minumum of two (2) threads with different characters in addition to the 20 comments required. Under this system, any post by your character or multiple threads on one post count as one thread. For events posts, all threads which responded to a starting comment from your character count as one thread, though tagging other people's starting threads gives you another thread (a more detailed explanation for events is here). So if you have a community or journal post by your character which has more than 20 comments, you'll still have to provide another thread, of any length, in order to meet the new AC requirements. You can still combine threads from as many posts as you need in order to meet the 20 comment requirement.

As we're announcing this halfway through the current AC period, these changes will NOT take effect until after March's AC. We encourage you to get in the practice of making sure you could meet them, though!

Second, we're going to implement tagging community posts with the characters who reply in addition to the posting character. This can start immediately! Just tag the post with your character whenever you comment. This should make it easier to keep track of things for the new AC requirements.

If you're worried about being able to find just your character's posts under this system, do not fret! If you use http://dramadramaduck.dreamwidth.org/?poster=username, substituting your character's username at the end, you'll get them!

That's it! Thank you all for voting and stay awesome.

Hey guys, this is just a friendly reminder to please not create extraneous tags on the main comm! We do hit the tag limit fairly often here, and so to avoid having to clean out dropped characters/old viruses too frequently, please limit yourselves to one tag per character (if they have a secret identity or alias, "real name [fake name]" is typically the standard we go by, rather than creating a tag for each identity), and when tagging a post with a virus name, make sure a tag hasn't already been created (to avoid "grabbag virus" versus "grab bag virus" issues). Double-checking for typos can't hurt, either! In addition, please don't make new comm tags for the subject of the post (outside of viruses), the setting, etc. That stuff is fine for character journals, but we just don't have enough room on the main comm for it-- and if it became commonplace, it would make organization/tag-searching a lot harder.

This isn't directed at any one person; it's just something I've noticed happening a bit more than usual lately. Thank you!

re: tags
I just did a biiiiiiiig tag clean-out on the main comm because I couldn't sleep (YOUR TAG-OBSESSED MINI-MOD IS A CLOSET INSOMNIAC, DDD), and we now have over one hundred slots free! Just don't use them all up with duplicate tags and typos, plz. ;; As always, if I made a mistake and deleted the tag of a character that's still in the game, let me know and I will go back and re-tag every single one of their entries for you. ♥

just a reminder from your tag-obsessed mini-mod:
When making new tags for the OOC comm, please make sure that one doesn't already exist! We've had "grabbag virus" for a while now, but a lot of people have started using "grab bag virus", which just pushes us closer to the tag limit once again. ;;

'Sup DDD! We were getting close to the tag limit on the IC comm again, so I went through and cleared out ~80 old ones. I purged mostly names that were a year-plus old and/or had little use on them so there shouldn't be anything to worry about, but if I accidentally deleted a character that's still in the game, let me know and I'll go through and re-tag their entries for you. ♥

just a note!
I'm currently in the process of doing a BIG tag clean-out on the main comm (we're already down to ~960 and I'm not even though the Hs yet! /o/). Mostly I'm getting rid of typos, duplicate tags, and characters that joined in 2008, posted once, and then disappeared, but if I accidentally delete something I shouldn't please tell me! I'm 99.9999999% sure I won't because, like I said, I'm only deleting old stuff, but if you suddenly notice that your character's tag was deleted I will be more than happy to make a new one and go through the comm archives and add it to all your posts. ;;

Hey DDD, we've reached the tag limit on the main comm again, so I'm clearing up some space by deleting tags that were only used once or twice before the character was dropped from the game. People who weren't able to tag new characters as they intro'd, you should be able to now! ♥

SORRY FOR THE SPAM
Only vote with one journal per player, please!

[Poll #1516959]

OH and this is just for Japanese characters, by the way; obviously characters who always have their given names first will be kept that way no matter what.

IC comm tags!
So I've been going through the main comm's tags to try to clear up duplicates and misspellings, and generally just try to make things more organized. As it stands right now, this is how I've been formatting things:

- characters are tagged as given name, family name (example: karen minazuki)
- characters with secret identities(/country names) are tagged as real name [secret identity] (example: kaito kuroba [kaitou kid], arthur kirkland [england])
- characters with commonly used nicknames are tagged as given name "nickname" family name (example: cindy "mac" mackenzie)

If anyone has any suggestions or complaints, feel free to let me know! (Especially on that first one, because I know name order can be a hot-button issue sometimes-- would you guys prefer it if all eastern characters had their names tagged as family name, given name? imho it's probably best to have it uniform to reduce confusion, but if most people would rather have the eastern name order kept I can do that.)

LADIES AND GENTS, ATTENTION PLEASE.
WE MAXED OUT OUR TAGS ON [livejournal.com profile] dramadramaduck AGAIN, TODAY.

I've been through them this evening and freed up 65 of them, and I'll probably free up some more.

"BUT TIERIA-CHAN, MY FAVOURITEST MOST KAWAII MODPOLE", I hear you cry, "HOW COME YOU FREED UP SO MANY SO QUICKLY??"

It's quite simple, it's 'cause a huge number of them were typos.

No, really.

THAT BEING SAID. Guys, please be careful when adding tags to your post/other people's posts. HERE ARE MY EASY GUIDELINES:

01. Check the Tag List to make sure you're using the right tag for that character. Some tags are full names, some only one, some are nicknames.
02. Spell it correctly.
03. If you see somebody using the wrong tag for your character, change it!
04. DON'T JUST TAG WITH STUFF. What I mean is, we don't have space for you to tag about the subject of your post.
04b. Exceptions include viruses, events, DDD!secrets, that sort of thing. Again, make sure you're using the same tag as everyone else.

Basically, try not to make new tags. If it's a character that's never been here before, or a virus that hasn't happened before, then by all means, knock yourself out. BUT OTHERWISE, NO.

thank you for reading :>

Guys, we've hit the tag limit again.

They're still very useful and please remember to tag with your character's name if you can- trust me, it makes finding them again for activity checks so much easier. But try to avoid extraneous tags, because LJ doesn't allow OVER ONE THOUSAAAAAAAND anymore. D:

And I want to keep the "lol we non-conned your brain" tag. Just because.

Houston, we have a problem
So, when I went back yesterday and looked at Tanyuu's intro post, I noticed something odd. The tags hadn't turned up. And when I tried to add them, it told me that it would exceed the limit of 1000 tags.

Which made me work on tags somewhat compulsively. I must have gotten rid of at least 100 by now. But it still won't allow new tags. At this point I'm really close to actually counting the listed tags.

Is anyone else having this problem? And before you answer, check to see that the tags on your most recent posts turned up, because with mine it just posted them stripped of tags.
