A question for the P3/P4 cast! Possible plotting ahead...

Okay, this question has been kicking around in my head for a while now, but I figured I'd ask for the opinion of the community at large, especially those from the P3/P4 cast.

Since P3/P4 take place in the same universe, there are bound to be a number of similarities, right? Well, as far as I know, the P3 cast can summon their Personas in the real world, but it is strongly implied that the P4 cast can only use their Personas in the TV world. By the same token, only people with the power of Persona can enter the TV world, so does that mean the P3 cast could, in theory, enter the TV world?

My main question here is this: If the P4 cast were to ever get their hands on Evokers, could they summon their Personas in the real world, too? Obviously, this would be something that would only be possible way in the future, no earlier than January, at least. Would probably require Mod approval, as well.

Hahaha, I have totally been thinking about this for months orz.

Personally, I think you're exactly right. I was thinking that maybe the reason why the P4 cast can summon their personas without evokers is because the TV world is a shadow world. And the reason why the P3 guys needed to use evokers was because they were still in their own world - even Tartarus was basically Earth, just maybe an extension of the shadow world entering the real world during the Dark Hour.

I think it wouldn't make a lot of sense if the P3 people couldn't enter the TV world, and I do think that if P4 people had evokers they could summon their personas in the real world.

Basically, this. Talking with Kaworu and such lately, I've been wondering how Suppressants would work within the P4 sphere of the universe. Since Personas are an extension of the ego, when you're on the medicine you're basically suppressing a necessary part of your inner mind. Would those who take them be able to enter the TV world or would it work like when Souji had to take Yosuke and Chie in during Yukiko's dungeon?

I think that anyone, in theory, could be dragged into the TV world safely by a fellow Persona user, including the P3 cast, regardless of whether they are on suppressants or not. The question is... would the suppressants affect their ability to summon a Persona in the TV world or not? Personally, I don't think it would, if you go by Akihiko's reasoning. They're in the realm of the human consciousness--the Shadow world--so that should make summoning a Persona easier, right?

Hmmm, it could. Maybe the healing thing the meds do works a little better as well, but I'd also think that the side effects are little more severe. Maybe they can only spend so much time in the TV before getting severely sick or their Persona is a bit less powerful. We should convene with Fire (Asuka-mun) and Shinji on this!

That makes a lot of sense, actually. Having their Personas become weakened because of the meds. I mean, when you're inside the realm of the human unconscious, it would stand to reason that if you don't fully accept your Persona, it will be less powerful. Or it might try to rebel or something. I mean, P4 REALLY emphasizes the whole "accepting yourself" to "master your Shadow" and all of that.

And once the Shadow Naoto plot has wrapped up... I'm thinking of posting a idea post for a possible event/virus to take place sometime between January and March, before the events of the "True Ending" take place.

I have to admit I'm super-unclear on what the suppressants actually DO. Didn't the same drug actually activate a persona for the first time in Takaya and the others? And when Shinji joined the group, he certainly could still summon his persona, just that it wouldn't go crazy.

From what I understand, the drugs awaken the power of Persona in a potential. The only problem is, because it's being forced out, it retaliates against its host. Meaning, the host has to keep taking the drug for the rest of their life, so that their Persona won't kill them. In essence, for people like Takaya and the others, their Personas are just a hair's breadth away from returning to Shadows because they are just barely being suppressed by their host's ego.

But Shinji didn't awaken his persona with the drug, his own persona was just so wild naturally that he needed to start taking the drugs to control it. Amirite?

I thought Shinji was one of the original kids in that group that had to take the drug? There was four in all... right? The ones that actually survived the initial experiment out of the original 100. Takaya, Jin, Chidori, and Shinji.

Goddammit, I need to go back and check the P3 game script for this... It's been awhile since I played P3, after all...

IIRC, Ikutski said something to the effect that "all the children they tested the drug on were orphans, no one people would miss" and that "out of 100 children, only 4 survived the initial experimental stages". BUT I COULD BE WRONG ABOUT THAT.

OKAY I FOUND IT!

I was wrong. Looks like there were only three kids, as Jin explains...

But, when that power doesn't emerge naturally, it's difficult to control.
So the kids had to take experimental medication so their powers wouldn't
kill them. Only three kids out of the original hundred survived, and after
6 months, the experiment was canceled.

Huh. So now I need to find out why Shinji needed to take the drug then.

I'm thinking it must be because of Shinji's personality, though. He's naturally volatile, and of course when he made that mistake and killed Ken's mother, he became paranoid and afraid to let it out again without some kind of control. He might have learned to control it just fine if he hadn't had an accident like that.

You know, after reading through that part in the game script again, I think you're right. That would explain why Akihiko was so mad at him and was all like, "Why didn't you come to me first?" because he probably could have trained Shinji to control his Persona without the use of drugs.

OH GOOD SO I'M NOT THE ONLY ONE!

I just... after the events in December, I thought it would be really cool if the P4 cast could somehow obtain Evokers and then be able to use their Personas in the real world, just like the P3 cast. Considering that it's been hinted at that the Shirogane family MAY have connections with the Kirijo Group, it's possible Naoto could ask Mitsuru to get some for them.

Since we're on the topic, since the power of Persona is the power of the mind, the P3 group can use their Personas on other worlds, right? Since Akihiko is on another world at the moment, has he been able to use his Persona powers?

I was totally thinking of suggesting that at some point, lol, because it'd be a shame if your characters all lost the ability to summon personas and were just NORMAL after that XD;;; I don't think it'd be too hard for them to get evokers from Mitsuru.

I've been playing it that he still has his persona when on other worlds, yeah. I think it's a personal ability he can take with him.

Oh, they never lose their Persona powers! Because they use them after the time skip in the game, for the final battle, so it's assumed they always have them. They just can't utilize them outside the TV world. Unless they have Evokers or something.

That's what I thought, but I wanted to confirm with everyone else first. I mean, Persona IS the power of your own mind and ego, right? So it makes sense that you could use it anywhere.

Oh no, I did know that. But it'd be a shame for them to never be able to use their personas again in DDD, because there'd be no reason for them to go into the TV world again. For the purposes of RP and such, it'd be way more fun for them to be able to use them, and since you won't have plot to fiddle with, having personas will be more fun for future CR and events.

It makes sense to me! ;3; And no one's objected so far to me having Aki battle aliens with his persona. Because...that's damn awesome.

Totally. I want Naoto to be able to show off his cute little bitty Persona to people. Plus, if he ever needed to fight some supernatural bad guys or something, it'd be really nice to be able to use his powers outside of the TV.

Yeah. Sukuna-Hikona goes from doll-sized to Naoto-sized Yamato-Takeru. Still pretty damn small compared to other people's Persona's. Like Kanji's. >_>

At least it gets all the best Insta-Kill spells in the game. >D

Naoto's one of the best group-killers in the game, IMHO, though she can sometimes be a problem in boss fights because they're rarely susceptible to Hama and Mudo. My final party is Yosuke, Kanji and Naoto, though. That gun I got from the reaper makes her pretty damned kickass.

In fact, Naoto is going to be a bit surprised that she's able to take out a large group of high-level Shadows all on her own.

Also, am I the only one who thinks Sukuna-Hikona might be a little nervous around Jiraya, if only for the fact that "OMG GIANT NINJA DISCO FROG IS GONNA EAT CUTE TINY MOTH BOY, WHUT?"
