Poor, poor Winry... Since the deadline to have it finished is the end of the month, I'm going to say they're about 70% done, but since Naoto disappeared for the virus, they're a little behind schedule. She'll probably be losing sleep in order to finish the android on time.

No, she is. Winry is amazed at how many hats Naoto wears. And the whole, "Ed and Al share their secrets they won't tell Winry" - well. Winry feels like she did when the boys were working to bring back their mom. She loves these boys, but them sharing their secrets with everyone but her really hurts.

The thing is, she isn't jealous of Naoto for being the person the boys go to. It makes her feel more like she's not able to provide what they need, and maybe Naoto is the person who should be. What happened with Envy more or less reinforced this feeling.

Naoto really has... no idea what she's doing. She's an only child, and was a loner for so much of her life that she didn't develop good social skills with others. She constantly second-guesses herself and worries that she's not the best equipped to be an older sister. All she knows is that she wants to protect her family, no matter what. And she wants them to be happy...

And... she kinda suspects that Winry is jealous of her, but doesn't know how to reassure her. I mean, she's got Kanji. She's not out to take Ed away from Winry. Just... it's hard to be objective when Naoto's been through many of the same circumstances as those kids.

Naoto does very well for someone who doesn't have good social skills. :D And she does very well being an older sister.

Winry wants her family to be happy, too.

She doesn't think that Naoto is trying to take Ed (right now, there isn't anything that could be taken away, anyway). More that Ed and Al obviously trust Naoto more. Maybe they need Naoto more than they need her. And really? Winry would be okay with that, if they were happy. Naoto can take care of herself, she wouldn't be a burden to the Elrics.

That's what Al is calling it. He does not have words to describe how much he doesn't want to hear what they're calling it.

And he will be right there supporting her through all of it. ~~At least until post canon when the Envy face-sucking may resume.~~ See how he's offering to beat up spikey hair? All it'll take is a word from her and ground worm on a plate!

Just so you're aware, Merlin wants to take Winry away from Ed the Elrics. And if Al makes any threats at Merlin, Winry Might Get Perturbed.

That's nice. Ed's support is going to be typical Ed support, as far as I can tell.

Winry would be quite happy to not know that Al's teaching Envy to be a person ~~with his tongue~~. It would be much like her 'relationship' with Scar, i.e., nonexistent.

Al will be. Less than pleased with that, though he will attempt to play nice with Merlin. He'll make it very clear that taking her away is Not An Option, though.

Would Winry like Al to pound Ed on the head a few times? It usually works...

Post-canon Al and Envy are gonna bond, stuck in Inaba together. Al won't allow anything to happen if it will cost him Winry and Ed, though.

Winry would appreciate Al playing nice with Merlin. And as long as "Not An Option" is Not A Threat, she'd understand. Maybe. She kinda feels like a third (fourth? fifth?) wheel at this point, since Naoto knows everything going on in the brothers' lives, and she's still being "kept safe". Envy's attack makes it that much worse.

I think Winry needs to deal with some of this herself. Of course, it's bothering her that this happened because of her friendship with the brothers. (So they're right in trying to keep her in the dark - and she couldn't protect herself against the attack. Yeah. She's all twisted up.)

Winry trusts Al. She'll never offer that to Envy, though.

Envy doesn't expect forgiveness from anyone. Really. In fact, he'd be utterly shocked if anyone did. It's what's going to make his development into a "true" human being all the more interesting.

I don't think Winry could forgive Envy for starting the war that ultimately killed her parents, any more than she could forgive Scar. She would work with Envy, if she felt like there was a good reason for her to. Or if Al ~~begged~~ asked her to.

I'd be very surprised if ANYONE could. Envy has no excuse other than the fact that it was all part of Father's plan... and it all amounted to nothing, in the end.

Human!Envy's struggle for meaning is very much like Rose's, after Father Cornell's miracles were revealed to be nothing more than a fraud. He'll be looking for a reason to live. Attempting to make up for all the evils he committed as a Homunculus will certainly be part of that journey.

Well, it could've gone either way ~~Except Ed's the hero, and we knew, some way or another, the good guys would win~~.

I'm sure being made human after being something completely different for most? all? of his life will make for a very interesting plot on Envy's part.

Al thinks it's different. Naoto just came into their lives, so she doesn't have all the inherent baggage that Winry does -- the "We must protect you forever and ever and ever cuz we're gonna marry you" baggage. If it helps, Al is sick that he didn't protect her.

All he'll ask is that they not hate him totally. He's kind of hopeful that she'll be able to... if not forgive, at least get past it. Envy will be a human and learning to be human. All will teaching him, you know, not to be a dick.

Winry would hate that Al felt sick about not being able to protect her - she doesn't want to need protecting! She wants to be part of the trio again - not on the outside, looking in. But if Naoto can take her place and be that, Winry would let her, because she just wants her boys to be happy.

Winry can probably work past it. She holds grudges a little bit differently than Ed does, after all.

They're not the same though. Naoto isn't replacing Winry; they have completely different bond ;_; THEY LOVE HER.

I think out of any of them, she has the greatest capacity for forgiveness.

She loves them, too, but Winry also understands she might not be able to give them what they need.

I have always thought that, which is why I love her so much. Of the Trio - pretty much of the series, at least to me - Winry shows the most inner strength.

Noooo she is. They just need something different from her than from Naoto. She's their strength.

And Al, who's outwardly the nicest, holds grudges for the longest.

But only for the best reasons. :D
