Al will be. Less than pleased with that, though he will attempt to play nice with Merlin. He'll make it very clear that taking her away is Not An Option, though.

Would Winry like Al to pound Ed on the head a few times? It usually works...

Post-canon Al and Envy are gonna bond, stuck in Inaba together. Al won't allow anything to happen if it will cost him Winry and Ed, though.

Winry would appreciate Al playing nice with Merlin. And as long as "Not An Option" is Not A Threat, she'd understand. Maybe. She kinda feels like a third (fourth? fifth?) wheel at this point, since Naoto knows everything going on in the brothers' lives, and she's still being "kept safe". Envy's attack makes it that much worse.

I think Winry needs to deal with some of this herself. Of course, it's bothering her that this happened because of her friendship with the brothers. (So they're right in trying to keep her in the dark - and she couldn't protect herself against the attack. Yeah. She's all twisted up.)

Winry trusts Al. She'll never offer that to Envy, though.

Envy doesn't expect forgiveness from anyone. Really. In fact, he'd be utterly shocked if anyone did. It's what's going to make his development into a "true" human being all the more interesting.

I don't think Winry could forgive Envy for starting the war that ultimately killed her parents, any more than she could forgive Scar. She would work with Envy, if she felt like there was a good reason for her to. Or if Al begged asked her to.

I'd be very surprised if ANYONE could. Envy has no excuse other than the fact that it was all part of Father's plan... and it all amounted to nothing, in the end.

Human!Envy's struggle for meaning is very much like Rose's, after Father Cornell's miracles were revealed to be nothing more than a fraud. He'll be looking for a reason to live. Attempting to make up for all the evils he committed as a Homunculus will certainly be part of that journey.

Well, it could've gone either way Except Ed's the hero, and we knew, some way or another, the good guys would win.

I'm sure being made human after being something completely different for most? all? of his life will make for a very interesting plot on Envy's part.

Al thinks it's different. Naoto just came into their lives, so she doesn't have all the inherent baggage that Winry does -- the "We must protect you forever and ever and ever cuz we're gonna marry you" baggage. If it helps, Al is sick that he didn't protect her.

All he'll ask is that they not hate him totally. He's kind of hopeful that she'll be able to... if not forgive, at least get past it. Envy will be a human and learning to be human. All will teaching him, you know, not to be a dick.

Winry would hate that Al felt sick about not being able to protect her - she doesn't want to need protecting! She wants to be part of the trio again - not on the outside, looking in. But if Naoto can take her place and be that, Winry would let her, because she just wants her boys to be happy.

Winry can probably work past it. She holds grudges a little bit differently than Ed does, after all.

They're not the same though. Naoto isn't replacing Winry; they have completely different bond ;_; THEY LOVE HER.

I think out of any of them, she has the greatest capacity for forgiveness.

She loves them, too, but Winry also understands she might not be able to give them what they need.

I have always thought that, which is why I love her so much. Of the Trio - pretty much of the series, at least to me - Winry shows the most inner strength.

And Al, who's outwardly the nicest, holds grudges for the longest.
