We haven't had one of these in a long time (or at least it seems like we haven't, I can't find the last one O_o) so here we go again! Are you looking for canon-mates? Do you have a favorite show/game/etc. whose characters would fit so well into DDD's highly dysfunctional family? Well now's your chance to pimp it!

Go ahead and comment to this post with your canon, the reasons it's so damn awesome, the characters you want most, and any other info that may get people interested. Give us links to fansites, favorite source quotes, etc. You may jog someone's memory on a fandom they once loved and would like to bring to DDD, or inspire enough interest for them to explore a new canon on their own, resulting in a possible app.

Fandom: 3rd Rock From the Sun.
Media: TV show. Available on DVD, and YouTube seems to have clips/some episodes as well.
Why it's awesome: Old, fairly low-budget comedy from the 90s about a group of aliens sent to Earth to study mankind. WACKY HIJINX ENSUE. It was also filmed in front of a live studio audience, so no, that isn't just a corny laugh track you're hearing (I know, I hate those things, too).

I'm considering apping one of the main characters, and canonmates (particularly the other aliens) would be epiiiiiic. <3

Fandom: (Guilty Gear series
Media: Started as games, but also have 5 drama cds, two novels, and a bit of other media.
Why it's awesome: Chock full of hilarious music references, insane moves, and the best, most eclectic cast of any fighting game. Best 2-D fighter ever and it actually has an awesome story that's fleshed out in the other media.
Most Wanted Characters: Baiken, Bridget, May, whoever isn't already taken.

Why it's awesome: Dude. It's Sherlock Holmes and Arsene Lupin modernized. It's all about the mysteries, so if you like murder mysteries and haven't read Detective Conan... then you're missing out. Plus, there's a larger, more intricate plot going on to balance out the little mysteries. It's fun! And the characters are awesome too!

Why it's awesome: It's Sailor freakin' Moon. The storyline is heartwarming and the characters are made of win.

Fandom: Fate/stay night
Media: It's a visual novel, which was turned into both an anime and a manga! I personally recommend the visual novel over the other two, because the main character becomes less of a twat.
Why it's awesome: It's an H-Game, okay, but it's an H-Game with well-developed characters, an interesting plot, awesome fight scenes, and really bad H-scenes. I could squeal over each and every character, but I think I'll just leave you with a quote.
"Issei. Don't ask questions and just take your top off."
Most Wanted Characters: SHIROU EMIYA. I would bear your children and make you all the icons you desired. And Issei would love you forever~

Media: Television series (there is also a manga, but it's a bit different and I'm not familiar with it)
Why it's awesome: It's a Film Noir detective show combined with giant robots and Issac Asimov-esqe androids and AWESOMENESS. You must watch it.
Most Wanted Characters: If someone picked up Roger Smith, or Angel, or even Alan Gabriel I would app my R. Dorothy muse so fast I would have time traveled in order to accomplish it.

Why it's awesome: Not only does it encompass just about every genre there is, it's an amazing fantasy that takes place in many different eras, and has a habit of often telling stories within stories. There's really no way to accurately summarize the entire series and do it justice, so you'll just have to take our word that it's fucking brilliant and see for yourself~.
Most Wanted Characters: DREAM (EITHER INCARNATION), DEATH, DESIRE, LUCIEN, Destruction, Corinthian the first. There's a lot, but those are the major Do Wants.

Fandom: Neon Genesis Evangelion
Media: TV series (anime), as well as two OVAs/movies, plus a Rebuild that's still coming out. Also has several spin-off games and manga. You can find most of the animated series and the End of Evangelion movie online.
Why it's awesome: It's a mindfuck of a series, has giant robots fighting things, and characters with many, many psychological issues. Also has subtexts, some pretty awesome dialogue and various other awesome things.
Most Wanted Characters: Rei Anayami, Kaji, Misato, Toji, or Kensuke would all be awesome. A Gendo would also be amusing.

Fandom: Any and all Megaman series
Media: Mostly games spread across the NES, SNES, and Playstation family. Plenty on the GBA and DS too. The best Classic games are neatly collected in the Anniversary Collection, and the MMX games have their own, called the X Collection. Imagine that.

Also, the EXE series has its own manga and anime, and Classic series has a cartoon usually called the Mega Shows by fans. It's campy as hell. I suggest it, if only for the lulz XD
Why it's awesome: SUPER FIGHTING ROBOT, MEGAMAN-- *shotshotshot* Uhh, because it's got robots! Or sentient AIs, depending on the series! And the Legends trio of games are some of the most awesome, even if they're the most under-loved.
Most Wanted Characters: Anyone! Please? *puppydog eyes* I no longer care which series they're from, but DDD seriously needs MOAR MEGAMAN.

Media: GBA Game. I believe there's a way to get it on the internet? Script is up on GameFAQs. And Youtube has the OVA episodes. :3
Why it's awesome: First 'Tales of' game, ever. Complete with over-excited summoner, grumpy archer, adorable healer, and loli ninja. Aaaand, it's a couple thousand years after Symphonia? And access to a time travel machine. Perfect excuse to modernize your characters. 8D
Most Wanted Characters: I want me a Klarth. Arche would love to mess with and annoy him, online and offline. And Cless. Chester needs his best friend and Arche needs someone to keep track of her adventures. She's thinking 'Swordsman turned Secretary'.

The SNES and PSX versions of the game have been fan-translated, and there is some patches floating around if you look. I'll leave it up to you to obtain the original game somehow.

I honestly recommend Absolute Zero's (http://zettaizero.wordpress.com/top-translation/) PSX translation over the SNES version, as DeJap's (http://www.dejap.com/) translation apparently kind of took just a few 'liberties' with the script. Hilarious liberties (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NQjZ8SYEgww), but still. Here's (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DXunlxprk7c) the PSX version for comparison.

But the main reason why I recommend the PSX version is because the gameplay is slightly better, and not as frustrating as the SNES version. As in, the battle system is improved and the encounter rate is greatly reduced. Fandom: Sukisho!
Media: There's a 13 episode anime, one volume manga, and four games. I don't think the first ep. is on Youtube, but it's been officially released in the US with subs.
The games haven't been translated, but you can download them on AarinFantasy.
Why it's awesome: It's hilarious, but has a dark, awesome plot. ALSO, RAN'S IN IT. That's all you need to know.
Most Wanted Characters: Sora Hashiba/Yoru, Matsuri Honjou. Any other characters would be great too.

Fandom: Tales of the Abyss
Media: Video Game. I'd say check either Gamestop or EB Games, but it's getting harder to find a copy in stores now. It also didn't make it to the UK, so Brit folk would probably have to import. But the great news? We're getting an anime (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UdwOLYPjMtE) this October. 8D If you can't get the game, I say check out the anime since it seems to be a fairly accurate adaption of the game.

If we want real reasons here, it's got a damn good cast of characters and the development in some of them was fairly good too. You'll end up liking at least one of them, I'd say. Just don't hate Luke when you start playing. He may be a serious brat and kicks puppies cheagles but he gets better, really. D:
Most Wanted Characters: MASTER VAN. Luke fanboys this guy like whoa, [spoilers][/spoilers] Needless to say, you'll have one shocked redhead if you pick him up. More God-Generals would be nice, too. We're still missing Legretta, Largo, and Arietta, after all. And we're missing Mieu as well. If someone really wanted him too, I wouldn't mind adopting out Ion either.

Fandom: MEGAMAN MEGAMAN MEGAMAN MEGAMAN
Media: Look to the above post for a better description of the whole shebang, but for now let's concentrate on the EXE manga. Not as well known as the show, but in terms of accessibility, it's usually right smack dab in the middle of the M section in most places like Sakura Media, and since the series is finished, all 13 volumes should be easy to find.
Why it's awesome: Fast paced shounen-style fun, if you can get past the cheesy dialogue! Plus it has NEAT FUTURE TECHNOLOGY... stuff... and... is good? The characters are really interesting too!
Most Wanted Characters: Maylu. And Chaud Blaze. PLEASE. LAN NEED RIVAL NAO. I-I'll even take a Dex if you're crazy enough to do that.

Why it's awesome: JL is seven heroes teaming up in a badass way to fight badass villains. JLU is THOUSANDS of badass heroes teaming up to fight THOUSANDS of badass villains. But it still takes the time for serious plot and character development!

Media: It's a comic, cartoon, movie, and a sitcom. The current Sabrina is strictly sitcom. YouTube has quite a few of the episodes uploaded.
Why it's awesome: It's...really funny. The insane adventures of a witch family in a normal world. Canon gendswitching, truth viruses, etc. Like DDD. Only without the internet.

Why it's awesome: It's an amazing book about gods. Lots of gods. From all over. Old time gods of the world's mythologies prepare for war against the modern day gods of technology, and one poor ex-convict is caught in the middle of the storm. The moral of the story? Don't trust those damn Norse, and beware of any women calling themselves Bilquis.

Fandom: Okami
Media: Video Game for Playstation 2 and newly released for the Nintendo Wii in 2008.
Why it's awesome: The story of "Okami", which is really the legend of the sun goddess Amaterasu, is probably one of the best storylines for a video game I've ever had the honor of playing. I'm not really a video game person; I'd prefer to watch rather then play myself, but this game by far was something I could not put down. The basic story is about how Amaterasu in the form of a white wolf, comes to 'ancient japan' (Nippon) to bring light and beauty back to a world of chaos and darkness. She uses special brush techniques (using her tail) to create drawn miracles, turning night into day, slashing enemies, slowing time, blowing gusts of wind etc...Along the way there are a vast array of characters and friends you meet, as well as people you'd rather not deal with but you've got no choice but to deal with 'em. It's a fantastic game, something I would recommend not only to girls who are like me who like watching video games rather then playing but also to everyone who loves story lines that are thicker and more colorful then a peice of paper. Ten out of Ten!

Fandom: Ghost in the Shell (Stand Alone Complex)
Media: Stand Alone Complex, is the anime series. Two seasons (known as the 1st and 2nd GIGs) are 26 episodes apiece, plus the Solid State Society movie. There are, however, two other movies and the original manga too. An interesting note is that the manga, the two movies, and the Stand Alone Complex series all follow alternate and separate storylines from each other.
Why it's awesome:
1. All the awesome weaponry
2. The Tachikoma
3. The Major is fucking badass
4. Yoko Kanno did the music
5. There's a combination between episodes that kind of stand on their own and those that contribute to a running plot through the series (such as the Laughing Man case of the 1st GIG)
6. Some of the psychological stuff that's mixed in is sometimes really interesting.
Most Wanted Characters: Currently, Togusa, Aramaki (the Chief), the Tachikoma, Aoi, Ishikawa, and anyone else from Section Nine. People from the 2nd GIG would be awesome too and probably cause for some awesome mindfuck especially that creeper, Gouda.

Fandom: Ace Attorney series
Media: DS game, three in the Phoenix Wright arc (Phoenix Wright, Ace Attorney; Phoenix Wright, Ace Attorney: Justice for All; Phoenix Wright, Ace Attorney: Trials and Tribulations) and currently one in the Apollo Justice arc (Apollo Justice, Ace Attorney).
Why it's awesome: GAY GAY GAY GAY Sparkling dialouge, brilliant characters, references to all sorts of popular media ("Passwords? This is madness!" "No, Maya. That is SPARDA.") and the gameplay is a really more like an interactive novel than something you really need to level-grind to do, so it can be done pretty quickly. HOWEVER there's a shit-ton of fantastic and hilarious little tidbits by taking your time and examining everything and presenting everything, so. JUST IN GENERAL IT'S AWESOME OKAY
Most Wanted Characters: M-Mia? ;~; But seriously, just about ANYONE from this game would be epic. I know we already have kind of an awesome and sizeable cast, but I'm greedy and always want more. :3
