The end of an era
Hey duckies,

In August, nearly five years ago, I got on a plane and travelled a couple thousand kilometers to the frozen wasteland of Winnipeg to begin law school, separating from my wife for 8 months before I was able to transfer back home. The week before I embarked on that journey, I joined this game, and it definitely helped to keep me sane as I went through some of the toughest years of my life.

I've gained friends through this game that'll last for a lifetime. I've been a mod for a couple of years now, and it's been the most important game I've been in since I started RPing through this medium nearly a decade ago. I've had a tonne of fun here.

But I've decided that it's time to step down and drop out of the game. I won't say I'll never be back, but it's become clear that this is the right decision for me right now.

See you around, DDD. Stay awesome.

OMG Cnd Has a New Character
Wow, check out the title! Here's Cnd with a new character, and it's not a troll.

*shock* *gasp*

Yukimi is from Nabari no Ou, and we already have a couple of characters from that canon. In a nutshell, Yukimi is a ninja, but his cover is a restaurant reviewer and column writer for a Japanese magazine.

I hope you like him! He's a bit of a foul-mouthed punk, too, but he's got a big, mooshy heart inside. I'll be introing him in a few.

IMPORTANT: Recruiting Modpoles
Hi duckies!

Things have been a bit crazy for your mod team lately, in case you haven't noticed, so we've decided to bring on a couple of modpoles to help pick up the slack. Specifically, we are looking for someone interested in helping Miri with Event and Virus Scheduling and someone to be a backup/helper for Cnd for Applications.

Modpoles get invited to our SUPER SECRET COMMUNITY where we sit around being fed peeled grapes by nubile young men and women discuss issues that come up with the game, as well as basically helping out with whatever needs doing. It's fun and low pressure, but does require a commitment to the game as a whole and generally being around when issues come up.

So if you are interested in this highly prestigious position, please fill out the form below and Private Message it to this account [personal profile] tripled_mods. We will discuss and make some choices. We may just bring on one, or may bring on a couple, it'll probably depend on our feels and how many people apply.

And now... The Handy-Dandy Form:

ACTIVITY CHECK: UNACCOUNTED-FOR CHARACTERS
ATTENTION

Below is a list of journals that were unaccounted for during activity check. Please note that this is not a final purge list, so don't remove any of these characters from your friends lists. We'll be posting the final purge list on Wednesday, June 11th.

Please check to make sure none of your characters are mistakenly on this list! )

If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to comment here, or you can contact me through PM!

Remember: if there's someone on here who dropped within the past seven days, they have not been removed because they're within the seven-day grace period and have not been removed from the taken characters list.

Likewise, if you see someone on here who you know dropped a long time ago, chances are they did not notify us of their drop on the taken characters list. There's always the chance that we could have overlooked someone, as well, but the purpose of AC is also to make sure all of the lists are updated, so no worries. They'll idle out, anyway. ♥

Also, thank you SO MUCH to the volunteers who helped with AC. You are very much loved and appreciated. <3333!

Activity Check: Final Reminder
If you haven't gotten your activity check done yet, do it now! Activity Check ends today and I'll be posting the list of characters not yet accounted for tomorrow.

Thinning my roster
Hi duckies, this is Cnd here...

I've been having more and more trouble keeping up with my current roster of characters, and I've had to face the fact that I simply don't have as much time for RP as I used to. As such, I'm making some pretty tough choices, dropping some games and dropping some of the characters I have at the games I'm keeping. I definitely don't want to have to step down as a moderator, but I'm thinning my RP herd down to those characters I have very few difficulties keeping up with and whose voices are very loud.

So I'm dropping Stein and Jake here, though I'm still going to be around with Sollux! I'll also be dropping all of my outstanding tags for both of those characters :( I simply don't have time to get through them all.

So sorry T_T

EDIT: FUCK NO I'M KEEPING JAKE.

Permission Post
Hey DramaDramaDuck!

I rarely do posts like this, but it's just occurred to me that for Jake, something is needed.

Homestuck is a notoriously 4th-walling canon, and Jake is the worst. So if you are leery about your character being 4th-walled (especially if your character is from a movie or comic book canon) please comment to this post.

Thanks!

Gasp!
Hello DDD!

This is Cnd, bringing in another Homestucker to join our adorable cast.

Jake English is one of the new kids. He has a VARIETY OF INTERESTS primarily including GUNS, WRESTLING, SKULLS, and his CERULEAN BEAUTIES, by which I mean BLUE-SKINNED WOMEN. He also has ECLECTIC TASTES IN MOVIES, by which I mean they are TOTALLY INDISCRIMINATE.

I anticipate shenanigans involving movie nights.

Overall, he's a complete dork who's lived almost his entire life with no human contact except over the internet. He'll be right at home here, I think!

Welcome him, if you please :3

Moving!
Good day, duckies!

Thank you for all of your patience and support during this transitional period. The mods have been continuing to work hard to transfer everything over to Dreamwidth and update all the links and make your new home ready for you to fly over and settle into.

This morning, Denise at Dreamwidth announced on the news post that community imports for communities over 100,000 comments are now open, and that communities of our huge size should be able to start importing within a week. Exciting!

As such, and because we don't want to draw out the transition any longer than we have to, our official moving date will be January 15, 2012.

What you need to do - CHECK IN

First, make character accounts on Dreamwidth for your characters, if you haven't already. Account creation on Dreamwidth is still open and invite-free, so take advantage of it.

Go to the new (combined!!!!) Taken Characters List and make a comment with:

  • Your name

  • Your LJ character usernames

  • Your new Dreamwidth usernames

This will help us to ensure that all characters that are transitioning over are captured, and that if any usernames have changed that the taken list reflects that change.

Also, please add yourself to the new Player Contact Directory, since we're restarting that with the move.

Please make sure that you check in before January 15th if possible. This check-in is replacing the January Activity Check and is vital for our housekeeping. We don't want to remove any characters by accident. If you are late and we remove your character, don't panic! Just contact a mod and we will fix it. You won't have to re-app, but please please try to get it done ASAP to avoid confusion and scrambling or delays in your ability to play.

Characters who are on hiatus right now will be exempt and WILL NOT be dropped even if they don't check in now. If anyone currently on hiatus is actually not making the jump to Dreamwidth, they have to be captured at the next Activity Check in March. However, if you are on hiatus and have a chance to do so, it would be really helpful if you would check in anyway.

Once you've checked in, please join all the communities and we will approve you. The names of the communities on Dreamwidth are the same as on Livejournal, and are listed on the profile of the main community as always.

As a note, when we finish check-in, we'll do a big FA/RL so everyone can add everyone. There's no limit to the number of friend adds you can do on Dreamwidth, so you'll be able to add all the journals at once and be up to date.

What you can do if you want - EVENT

OOCly: We see no particular reason why you can't all start playing on Dreamwidth as soon as you've been approved to post in the comms. There are many people who are having trouble accessing Livejournal or simply don't want to, so let's not make them wait to play any longer. Please feel free to break in the new site and start making new posts there, rather than on the Livejournal site!

However, if for whatever reason you aren't ready to start playing on Dreamwidth yet, you can still continue to make posts on Livejournal until January 15th. The game on Livejournal will be considered closed on January 15th and a post will be made reflecting that, which will direct people to the new game on Dreamdwidth.

That being said, you can continue to back-tag in comments for as long as you like, so long as everyone involved in the thread agrees. We would encourage people to switch backtagging over to Dreamwidth once comments are imported, however.

ICly: Due to the sudden downswing in functionality on Livejournal and all the problems, someone has tried to fix the community. Several someones. In fact, all the someones. If your character has any kind of hacking or computer ability, they may have tried to fix the site, and chaos has ensued. The result has been that many characters' accounts have been moved from Livejournal to Dreamwidth, and more characters' accounts are getting moved all the time.

How. Strange.

Feel free to have your characters speculate and accuse one another of screwing up the community over the Christmas holiday to your hearts' content. Maybe your character really did cause problems, or maybe they were drunk and had no idea there was an issue at all, but find the blame dropped in their laps.

For those who are less tech-savvy, do your characters like the new service? Clearly we haven't had enough OOC discussion of this, it's time to make endless lists of LJ vs. DW pros and cons ICly now.

So is that it?

That's it!

But what if I want to know more?

Well then, here are some links that may come in handy!

Activity Check Cancellation
In the spirit of the holiday season, the moderators have decided to give the community a gift! I hope you like it.

ACTIVITY CHECK FOR JANUARY 2012 HAS BEEN CANCELLED

Okay, actually it's not because of the holidays. Due to the fact that several people we know of (and possibly a few we don't) are having significant difficulty accessing the site since LJ rolled out Release 88, and also the fact that many people (including myself) are having trouble either motivating ourselves to roleplay, or having visual problems limiting their ability to roleplay for long, we have decided to cancel this month's activity check.

If the game moves (and so far the poll seems overwhelmingly in support of that, though as we've said no final decision will be made until mid-January) then anyone who would have been swept out in this activity check will likely be swept out in the move. How the next activity check is handled will depend on when or if the move occurs, but it will take place on March 1, 2012.

So Merry Chrismahanukwanzadan to you all! You don't have to gather links until March.

Check-up on the Taken Characters List
Hi Duckies!

In the wake of this month's Activity Check, it came to the attention of the mod team that some people who had dropped a long time ago might not have been swept off the Taken Characters List, even though they had been removed from the master list we use to keep track of all of the characters on the list. At the same time, I came to suspect there were some characters on the master list who had never been put on the TC list either. These things are bound to happen sooner or later in a game this size, and a few characters had apparently slipped through the cracks.

So I decided to sit down and do a major, thorough, check. As a result of that check, I did indeed find a small list of characters who needed to be removed from the TC list and hadn't been caught in the Activity Check because they weren't on the master list. So here we go:

[ ADMIN CONSOLE | MASTER LIST ]

EXTRA PURGE LIST

PLEASE do us all a favour and take a moment to check that your entries on the Taken Characters List are up to date and complete. Please also note that if you were just removed and didn't expect to be, your character may have been accepted in September and you failed to respond to the latest Activity Check. In that case, you will need to reapply, just as if you had been removed in the main purge list that I posted earlier today.

Please feel free to ask me here if you have any questions, and let me know if I've made a mistake. This was a big job, and it's possible that something's slipped through the cracks despite my best efforts.

Edit: [livejournal.com profile] brainisout, [livejournal.com profile] thirstsforred, and [livejournal.com profile] unlikely_spread were removed in error! Please friend them again if you removed them from your flist already

Activity Check
ACTIVITY CHECK

Activity check will be going on from today through Monday, November 7th.

Please reply to this post with the following information and links to 20 comments and/or posts for each of your characters:

Example:
Character Name: Tachibana Shito
Character Journal: [livejournal.com profile] tiedbyfate
Comment Links:

Comments must be from sometime within the months of September and October. Any comments where there is a discrepancy over the time stamp because of timezones (e.g. October 31st vs November 1st) will not count.

Exemptions

If you are on hiatus, you are exempt from activity check. Your hiatus must be listed here or it is not official. If you have a question about this, please contact a mod. We will often accept an unofficial hiatus announcement from the OOC community, but we will not dig through the comm to find the links for you.

If your character was approved during the month of October, then that character is also exempt from activity check.

Click here for a list of exemptions.

Volunteers

THANK YOU DRAMADRAMADUCK VOLUNTEERS! \o/ This is where you guys get to help in the activity check process! We just need volunteers to go through this post to verify that people have linked the necessary amount of comments from the right time period, and reply to the original comment with "activity verified for" and the names of the characters that have been checked. Feel free to ping any of the mods with questions!

Activity Check Process

Here's what happens after Activity Check is over! On the 8th I will go through and gather the information from the check. No new links will be accepted from this point on, but the 8th and 9th will be used to make sure there weren't any errors. On the 10th, I'll post a list of the characters to be purged. Those characters will be available for reserve and application immediately, however, those applications will not be processed until after the 15th. This is so everybody has a fair chance to apply, and so the original player has time to reclaim their character if a mistake was made.

That should be it! If you have any questions or concerns about how activity check works, you can hit any of us up on AIM or Plurk. My AIM screen name is hellbreakercnd and here is my Plurk. The previous activity check-related posts can also be found here, so you may want to try checking there first if you have questions.

Below is a list of journals that are exempt from tomorrow's Activity Check.

October Applications )

The comments still visible on the hiatus post are all active hiatuses. Hiatuses that no longer apply have been screened. All hiatuses that are still within their 3 month limit have been left up there. Only uncommented-to hiatuses still showing on the hiatus post apply for exemption in this Activity Check. If you returned from hiatus but haven't commented there to tell us you're back, please do so now.

Let me know here if there are any errors!
